Project Mañana's Annual Report
Summary
Project Mañana International completed its first full year of service on September 30, 2011. In looking at 2011, as a calendar year, we couldn’t be more pleased and encouraged by the success we’ve had. Recognizing that everything has been made possible through God’s grace and the generosity of Project Mañana’s sponsors, you will see by the highlights below that Project Mañana has already made an impact in the Dominican community of La Yaguita de Pastor. We would like to THANK all of Project Mañana’s sponsors, who are "Working Together Today for a Better Tomorrow!™"
Highlights
Growth:
- Project Mañana grew from serving 34 children to 115 (That’s a 238% increase!)
- Project Mañana has 3 direct Dominican employees and 8 indirect Dominican employees through the school
- Project Mañana has helped to hire a school director, school secretary, and 2 additional teachers
Financial:
- Project Mañana’s executive leadership still maintain not to take any salary or compensation
- Project Mañana finished 2011 with 71 Individual and Corporate sponsors
Projects:
- Project Mañana purchased and installed an industrial freezer for nutrition program
- Project Mañana helped purchase (or refurbished) all student desks and tables
- Project Mañana painted the exterior school walls
- Project Mañana installed high-speed internet services at the school
- Project Mañana began the first stages of opening a computer lab at the school
- Project Mañana helped to launch a youth outreach program in the community
- Project Mañana (for the second year) provided Christmas gifts to all 115 students
- Project Mañana (through sponsors) provided 50+ children with new GAP t-shirts and backpacks
- Project Mañana purchased school uniforms, text books, and supplies for students
Events:
- Project Mañana hosted a 2-day teacher training course
- Project Mañana hosted an etiquette class for the community
- Project Mañana hosted events for Mother’s Day, Back-to-School, Christmas, and a 1-year Anniversary Celebration
- Project Mañana hosted its first week-long summer camp for more than 50 children living in the community
Visitors:
- Project Mañana hosted a group of 8 people in February 2011
- Project Mañana hosted Billy & Emily Lee for a week-long trip
- Project Mañana hosted Mr. & Mrs. Alex Nunez
